Mcleod Ganj even more continued...

Last full day in Dharamsala and a special one too. The 2nd of September happens to be 'Democracy Day' when the government in exile celebrate the formation in 1960 of a voted parliament. This was held in the temple courtyard and once having endured the usual too long speeches by political figures including a french delegation, the real celebrations began with continuous traditional dances. Representing different folklore stories and regions of Tibet, using mostly traditional instruments what most stood out again is the pride of these people all dressed up for the occasions as well as the magnificient costumes of all the performers. The sun was also shining bright and I couldn't help but wish that on day in my lifetime those same dances will be performed in Lhasa instead, the place they really belong too. Later on I sat down for a coffee and cake on Temple Road relaxing and chatting to an australian lady who had just finished the 10 days retreat! That way I could witness the 'before' and 'after'! Now all packed and ready for the night bus trip to Manali probably after another movie and food at the cafe.
